Description:Translation (Htoi Awng) Once upon a time, there were two drug addicts. They travelled somewhere together. One man was not very addicted to the drug. On their way, they had to sleep near the stream. They saw there was plenty of fish on the other side of the stream. A man said, "My friend! You go and catch some fish there. I will wait here by building a fire." The man who needed to catch some fish took opium and went to the other side of the stream. The man who had to build a fire got the bamboo opium pipe. In the evening, the man who was catching fish wanted to use opium. His friend got the bamboo opium pipe and fire as well. But he had only opium (mix with sliced and dry plantain leaves). He did not have a pipe too. So, he called his friend and said, "Hey! Throw the opium pipe to me. I need to use opium." Then, his friend threw it to him. After he used the drug, he threw the pipe back to his friend on the other side of the stream. So, it was a bit bent. His friend said, "Oh! It's bent." But he said, "It is not my fault. It's not because I threw it. It's because the stream meanders originally." They argued and blamed each other. The next day, they worked and got tired. It was getting dark, and they had to sleep somewhere on their way again. The man who was addicted to drugs said, "My friend! I will be an honest and righteous person for you from tonight. Forgive me, please." His friend also apologized to him, "Forgive me too. I will also be that kind of person." They forgave each other. The next night, they became addicted to opium again. You promised me that you would be an honest person. It's okay to lie to me. But, why did you tell such a lie to my wife?" They argued. In the end, they decided to go to a judge. The judge asked them, "Who made the promise that you would be an honest person first?" They answered, "We both did." The man who got lied to by his drug addict friend said, "But he broke the promises first." When the judge interrogated them, it was true that the drug addict friend broke the promise. He lied to his friend's wife and took come money to use opium. The moral of this story is that keeping one's promise is important.
