Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there was a lazy bear. He was an indolent bear. He usually searched for food once a week and kept it for the entire week. He always did the same routine. Unless he had eaten all his food, he never went out to search for more food. He only did two activities; eat and sleep. One day, while he was going out to search for food, he saw a lake filled with a lot of fish. He looked at the fish and went back home. He thought of placing the basket in the lake, and he was hoping the fish would swim into it. So he placed it there. It was really filled with fish. There was a lot of fish in the basket. "These fish will be enough for my meals for the whole week. I don't need to search for food," he thought. He took it home and hid it behind a big rock in his house. At night, he slept soundly. He hid the fish well. However, one day, the fox accidentally found the fish. When the fox walked past the bear's house, he got the smell of fish. So, he sneakily glanced at the bear's house. He thought, "I am very sure that there will be fish in the bear's house. I should plan to get to eat that fish." He was wicked. He was thinking of a plan. And he approached the bear and asked, "My friend bear, don't you go out to find some food today?" The bear answered, "No, I don't. I have enough food for the whole week." The fox said, "I come here to be a guest at your house." The bear asked him, "Why? Don't you have a house?" The fox replied, "My house was destroyed by the storm last night. I don't have anywhere to stay now. Let me be your guest for just one week. As soon as I finish building a new house, I will go back. I will go back at that time." The bear said, "Okay. You can stay at my house." The bear allowed him to stay at his house. He totally forgot about his fish and let the fox stay at his house. One day, the fox had an evil plan to get to eat the fish. So he secretly fed the bear something that would make him sleepy. The bear didn't know and just ate his food as usual. After eating a meal, the bear fell asleep. He was sleeping the whole day. Then the fox thought to himself, "This bear can sleep the whole day. Tomorrow, I will feed him double the amount." He really put a lot of the sleeping substance into the food and gave it to the bear. The bear ate it and slept again. The fox was clever. While the bear was sleeping, he searched for the fish basket that the bear hid. He searched for fish by using his sense of smell. Finally, he found the fish next to the rock. "How can I carry all this fish? It's too heavy. I should take it little by little to my house," he thought. At that time, the bear, who was sleeping, woke up with a grunt of 'hmmmmm'. And he asked the fox, "What are you doing there?" The fox replied, "Since there are a lot of rocks in your house, I thought of taking some to strengthen my house's pole. So, I am looking for some rocks." The bear said, "Alright." And he ate some fish and slept again. At that time, the fox thought to himself, "I think he's going to sleep for a long time this time." So, he secretly carried two or three fish to his home. When he came back to steal fish a second time, he accidentally opened the door too hard. It made a loud sound 'dungggg.' Then the bear woke up because of that sound. He didn't open his eyes and asked, "What's happening?" When he asked the fox, the fox said, "It's just the sound of the rocks I am carrying for my house." The bear believed him and said, "Okay. Take as many as you need." And he fell asleep again. The fox took another two or three fish to his house. And he came back again to steal more fish. When he opened the door, it made a loud noise again. The bear asked the fox while closing his eyes, "What is happening? Is there a guest?" The fox said, "No. It's just me. I come back here after dropping the poles at my house." The bear just said, "Aw. Okay." And he got up and ate some fish. After eating the fish, he slept again. The fox returned to the bear's house for the third time to steal more fish. This time, the bear asked, "What's happening again?" The fox said, "I come back here after building my house." The bear asked, "Have you finished building it?" The fox answered, "There's still half left." In reality, the fox meant there were still half the fish left. The fox said, "There's still half left." The bear was drowsy and said, "Okay. Continue your work." And he slept again. The fox took some fish and kept them at his house. He came back one more time to steal, and the door made a loud noise again. The bear woke up without opening his eyes and asked, "Is there another guest here?" The fox said, "No. It's me, my friend. I come back after building some parts of my house." The bear asked, "Have you not finished building it yet?" The fox said, "Just a bit more. It's almost done." The bear said, "Okay. Invite me when you finish building it." The fox took some fish again. He thought, "I think he will suspect me if I take all the fish. I should leave some fish behind. I must not go back yet. If I go back home now, he will definitely suspect me." He left some fish in the basket and went inside the house. When he walked in, the bear asked, "My friend, what is happening again?" The fox said, "I come back after building my house." The bear asked, "Have you finished building it?" "Yes, there's just a bit left to do, but it's okay. I窶冤l leave it like that," the fox replied. The bear got up and went to the place where he had hidden the fish. He said, "Oh! I thought the fish would be enough for a week. How could there be less fish? Maybe, I ate when I got up after having a dream." He said like that. "My friend, I fed you some sleeping substance. Don't you remember? Maybe, you forgot that you got up and ate the fish," the fox said. "Maybe. I need to find more food now," the bear said. He ate every fish he had that day. The next day, he went out to search for food. He said, "My friend," when he met the fox on his way to look for food. The fox asked him, "Are you searching for food?" The bear said, "Yes, my friend." The fox asked, "Aren't there any fish in that lake?" The bear answered, "Yes, I am going to that lake to see if there are any fish." He wondered how the fox knew he had caught fish there, so he asked, "How did you know that?" The bear asked the fox about fish. "No. I don't know," the fox denied. He lied to the bear. "Fine, if you don't know," the bear said. But he was curious why the fox asked him about fishing. He was unconscious at first because he was fed the sleeping substance. He thought to himself, "I am sure that I have enough fish for a week. How could there be fewer fish? I think it's because of the fox. The fox steals my fish." He didn't catch fish and went to the fox. He called, "My friend fox! My friend!" The fox asked him, "Have you got some food?" The bear said, "Yes. I have very delicious food today." The fox said, "If you have, show me." Then the bear caught the fox and said, "Here! This is my delicious food! It's you!" He continued, "You fed me some substance and stole my fish. So, I will eat you today!" Then he ate the fox. Therefore, we should not have any bad intentions. Transcription (Lu Awng) Moi kalang mi hta da grai lagawn ai e oh ra tsap langai mi nga ai da.
