Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there were a mother and her daughter in a village. They were contented. One day, the daughter was watching over the corns from the danger of animals. At that time, a group of parrots flew down there and ate the corn. Then, she was crying. The parrots asked her, "Why are you crying?" She replied to them, "My mom told me to guard the corns not to be eaten. But you ate them. My mom will scold me when she comes back." The parrots comforted her, "Don't cry. Don't cry." They told her, "Come to us when you have time." One day, the girl went to the place where the parrots lived. There was a big tall tree. She shouted, "I am here." Then, she heard a voice saying, "Which ladder do you want to use to climb up: a wooden ladder, an iron one or a golden one?" Then, she answered, "Give me an iron ladder." But the parrots gave her a gold ladder. When she was on the tree, the parrots told her to eat the meal. They fed her with gold plates and gold spoons. After the meal, she prepared to climb down the tree. They told her, "Don't go back yet. We will give you a present." And they asked her, "Do you want a big one or a small one?" She said, "Just give me a small one." When she arrived home, she opened the gift and saw there were gold and money in it. Then, the greedy mother and daughter, the neighbours, came to them and asked them, "Where did you get those gold and money?" The good girl told them how she got those. The greedy mother told her daughter to guard the corns too. The parrots came there and ate the corn. They offered her to come to their place. When the greedy girl arrived there, the parrots asked her, "Which ladder do you want?" She said, "I will use the gold ladder." But they gave her the iron ladder instead of the gold ladder. After eating the meal, the girl took the big present and went back home. When she arrived home, she and her mother went into the room and opened it secretly. They didn't want anyone to know about them. When they opened the big present, a giant snake came out of the box and swallowed them. This is the end of the story.
