Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there was a boy who worked as a farmer in a village. He was interested in agriculture. He liked to grow vegetables such as peas, beans and mustards. But, whatever he planted, they didn't grow well. Mustards which he grew was not good. But he kept growing vegetables. What he liked to grow the most was bottle gourd. He really liked to plant bottle gourds. The bottle gourds which he grew always died when they were a little bit big or they were growing as wonky vegetables. But he was never depressed nor disappointed. He grew vegetables every year. He fertilized the soil too. But the bottle gourds never grew well. But he wasn't disappointed too. One day, he saw an angel whose wings were broken while he was cultivating. He felt pity and took the angel to his home. He applied some medicine on the wound, treated him to a delicious meal and let him sleep. When he woke up the next morning, the angel had already gone away. He saw only three bottle gourd seeds at the place where the angel had slept on. The angel gave those to him as a present to plant. He was so happy and fertilized the soil well. And he planted those seeds well. After some days, the gourds started to grow. He was surprised that the bottle gourds were so big. Then, he called all the villagers to share those bottle gourds. He told them, "You don't need to give me money. I will share these gourds with you." Then, he cut the gourds in front of everyone. As soon as he cut them, he saw a surprise thing. There were full of gold coins inside the big gourds. He was very happy. And he gave some of those gold coins to the villagers too. He got rich too. His news spread the whole village. Then, there was a rich man who lived at the front part of the village. He also heard the news and felt angry because the boy got richer than him. He felt jealous of the boy. He was just a stingy and mean man. He started to grow bottle gourds like the boy. Then, the angel appeared in front of him as well. When he saw the angel, he told his servants to shoot the angel with the arrow. The angel got hurt because of him. But he pretended like he saved him. He took him to his house and cured the wound. And he treated him to a tasty meal and let him sleep well too. The rich man said to him, "I've saved you. You should know how to pay your gratitude to me. Don't forget to show your gratitude towards me." After saying like that, the rich man couldn't sleep the whole night because he was expecting high. He was thinking the whole night, "When will that man give me the bottle gourd seeds? When he gives me those, I will grow them well. When the gourds grow big, I'll call everyone and cut the gourds in front of them. But I won't give any gold to them. I'll take all." He couldn't sleep the whole night with his own thoughts. The next morning, he saw three gourd seeds at the place where the angel slept. He was so happy and grew the seeds. But he didn't take care of the plants well. He just used every soil. He didn't check if that was fertilized or not. After some time, the gourds started to grow big. Then, he called all the villagers. He said to them. "The reason why I call you is that I'm going to cut these gourds in front of you all. But I can't share the gold inside them. I will take all." Then, he cut the gourds in front of everyone. But, there was nothing inside them. At that time, the villagers said to him, "You are too greedy and jealous of other people. That's why you didn't get any gold." There were devils and angels on the earth. The rich man met a devil. Since he was a bad man, he met a devil. This is the end of the story.
