Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) The story I am going to tell is about a nat-priest who didn't know how to call a goat while offering to Nat (spirits). A nat-priest was gazing while he was offering things to Nat. Once upon a time, there was a widow in a village. She wanted to offer offerings to Nat. She raised pigs and goats too. She prepared to offer goats to the Nat spirits whom she worshipped. She let a nat-priest to offer the goat. Then the nat-priest started worshipping Nats. But he was gazing without continuing the ceremony. He was thinking, "How should I call for this goat when I offer this to Nat? Shall I just say 'Kachyeng ma'? (kachyeng means something that has a sharp and harsh voice.) At that time, the widow thought to herself, "Ummm, this nat-priest didn't know how to call this goat while offering ceremony." Then she said, "Mr, you don't know how to call for this goat, do you?" The nat-priest said to her, "Yes, I forgot." The widow said, "When my grandfather gave offerings to Nat spirits, it was said that the goat was called 'Sumboi A-nga or Rung Hkyen Hkungga'. We use 'Rung Hkyen Hkungga' for the goat because it has spiral-shaped horns. We say 'Sumboi A-nga' too because the goat has a goatee. That's why we call like that for the goat." The nat-priest said, "Ohh, is it?" Then he continued the ceremony of giving offerings to Nat. If the widow didn't tell about it, the nat-priest couldn't continue the ceremony.
