Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) The story I am going to tell is about why a drongo drives an eagle off. In the past, drongos and eagles were close friends. One day, the drongos let the eagles look after their kids because they were going out to find food. Then the eagles were taking care of the drongos' children while the drongos were finding food. But the drongos didn't come back to their nests, even though it was getting dark. Then the eagles ate the baby drongos since they got hungry. When the drongos came back, they asked the eagles, "Why did you eat our children?" The eagles replied, "Why didn't you come back early? We were hungry at that time. And we couldn't go out to find food. So we ate your children. Please forgive us." Although the drongos could forgive them, they were so angry and upset because they lost their children. Since then, they blamed each other even though they were close friends before. One day, both the drongos and the eagles went out to find food. They had a conversation. "Those eagles ate my children when I let them look after my children," said the drongo. Then the eagle said, "Those drongos are so bad. They didn't let me find food. And I had to take care of their children while they were finding their food. Then I got hungry. So, I ate their children." They kept arguing. They reached to the stage of fighting from arguing. They weren't friends anymore. They became haters. Later, the eagles were the ones which had to run away because they were afraid of the drongos. The drongos told each other, "We should drive all those eagles away from us. If not, it will be difficult for us to raise our children." The drongos had a meeting in their place and were discussing it. They kept saying, "We shouldn't let the eagles live around us. We should drive them away. We need to make sure they don't dare to come back. If we let them stay here, there will definitely be a war between us. So, we should drive the eagles out." But there was one of the eagles eavasdropping outside the meeting place. Then he quickly went back to the place where the eagles lived. He said, "It's not good now. We mustn't live here anymore. We should move to another place." The eagles were having a meeting too. They planned to move from this place quickly. They were about to move to another place after their meeting, then they met the drongos face to face. Then the drongos were driving them off. The drongos kept driving the eagles away all day and night. Their children couldn't be fed well since they were busy in driving the eagles out. Then the drongos were extinct gradually. And the eagles were scared of the drongos and ran away whenever they saw the drongos. So, we shouldn't ruin our friends or neighbours' lives and seduce our friends to do bad things. Then we will be like the eagles. Ya ngai tsun na gaw shingkri ni hpa na galang hpe hkan shachyut ai lam tsun na re. Moi gaw shingkri hte galang gaw grai hkau hkat ai htingbu manang ni re ai da.
