Description:Translation (Seng Pan) The story I am going to tell you is about a crocodile and a fisherman. A long time ago, a crocodile was trapped in a hunters' net. At that time, a man who intended to go fishing passed the trap. "Man, please save me!" the crocodile shouted. Then the man said, "If I save you, you will eat me." "No. I will not hurt you. I will even help you to get more fish. Please help me," the crocodile replied. The man helped it as he couldn't ignore its begging. After that, the crocodile took him to a lake. The crocodile was so hungry at that moment. So, it wanted to eat the man. Besides, it had never tried the human before. When they arrived at the lake, the crocodile said, "Man, you wait for me near this lake. I will catch the fish for you." And it went into the water. At first, the crocodile brought a small fish by gripping firmly with teeth and placed it near the man. The man put the fish into his basket and waited for the crocodile to take another fish for him. The next time, the crocodile brought a bit bigger fish. This time, it placed the fish near the lake. The man moved near the lake and took the fish. He put it into the basket and waited for the crocodile. After a while, the crocodile popped out in the middle of the lake by gripping a big fish. It shouted to the man to come and take the fish. The man also trusted the crocodile that it wouldn't eat him. So, he went into the water to take the fish. But the crocodile released the fish and bit the man. It dragged the man into deep water. "You gave me a promise. Why are you dragging me down?" the man asked. "Humans are our prey. I was in the trap for the whole day. I am starving. And I want to try the meat of human since I have never eaten it before," the crocodile replied. While they were arguing, a man passed near the lake. He was a wise man. "Why are you arguing in the middle of a deep lake?" the wise man asked. Then, the man answered, "This crocodile asked me to set it free from the trap. And it promised me that it wouldn't eat me. Now it breaks the promise. It's planning to eat me." "Come near the water's edge. I will solve your problem," the wise man said. The man and the crocodile swam to the water's edge. "Why are you planning to eat? He had saved your life, hadn't he?" the wise man asked the crocodile. "No. He is lying to you. I got in and stayed in the net myself. He just took me and let me fish for him. Therefore, I planned to eat him," the crocodile answered. The wise man understood their problem. So, he requested the crocodile to show him how it got into the trap and stayed there happily. To be able to prove what it said, the crocodile went into the trap. "I was staying inside like this," it said. However, it couldn't get out of it. The crocodile was stuck there. "Since you are dishonest and you don't keep your promise. Remain here!" the wise man said. And the two men left. The hunters took the crocodile and butchered it. Since the crocodile didn't keep its promise, it was killed at last.
