Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there was a hunter. One day, he accidentally met Sanam Num (a kind of nat with long hair and a terrible face). Sanam Num said, "I will follow you. I will stay with you." He said, "No, you can't. I have a wife and many children." But Sanam Num insisted on following him and said, "No, I will be your second wife. I just want to stay with you." He couldn't refuse and took her home. He gave her a room which was in the back of the house. The family often ate ginger, garlic, and ginger wort. Sanam Num couldn't resist that smell and said, "Don't eat those." But the family usually ate those. In the end, Sanam Num couldn't stay there anymore and went back to her own place. This is the end of the story. In the past, women usually tied their hair when they cooked. We called those people who untied their hair as Sanam Num or Gumrau Hkaw Ma. Hkawma Kanu means a horse with children. It has long hair. Our elders told us about that. Thank you.
