Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) I'd like to tell you about one animist family that turned to Christianity in 1942. In the past, we offered offerings to our guardians (spirits) before we cultivated farms. That family used to offer things to their guardian spirits at home before they cleaned the fields or cultivated the farms. They cut down a big, tall tree first. They built a small stage to rest on. As the tree was so big, they had to cut it bit by bit. After that, they waited for the tree to fall. But it didn't fall in the direction they expected. It fell towards the small stage where the old grandpa was resting. The grandpa was flying almost 15 feet away. He was resentful towards the guardian nats and said, "What kind of spirits are they? They can't even protect us!" Around 1942, there was a catechist named Nhkum Zau Mai in Mungmaw village. The grandpa went to him and learned about the Holy Bible for a month, although he couldn't write or read. He learned about the Bible by listening and accepting it from his heart. He learned about how Jesus sacrificed himself for all human beings. After learning, he went back to his village. His family and the other two families from the village accepted Jesus and became Christians. Till today, their generations are Christians and worship Jesus. I would just like to tell you about it.
