Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) The story I am going to tell you is about a well-mannered orphan boy. Once in a village, there was an old grandma and her grandson. The grandson was really well-behaved and listened to her. There was no well in his village, so he had to go to the stream for drinking water. He carried water for his grandmother every day. One day, the stream was overflowing with water. He had to go near the water when he carried it for his grandmother. That day, the water level suddenly rose and swept him away. He kept floating away along the water. Then he was stuck in a tree. There was a mean ghoul who lived there. The ghoul was overjoyed because he saw his meal. He said, "It's perfect. I am so hungry. I can eat him now." Then he pulled the boy out of the water. The boy begged him, "Please don't eat me. I have an old grandma whom I have to take care of. I was dragged by the water while I was carrying water for her. Spare me, please. I will do whatever you want me to. Just don't eat me, please." The ghoul said, "Okay. I won't eat you, but you will have to do anything I ask." He promised, "I will do anything for you." The ghoul spared him and let him work for him. The boy cooked meals for him while he was going outside. At night, he massaged him and took care of him. The boy lived with the ghoul by taking care of him. After a long time, the boy asked the ghoul, "Can I go back to my grandmother? She might have had lots of difficulties while I was away. Let me go back home." Then the ghoul said, "You can go back. You have done everything for me willingly, so I won't eat you. I will let you go. Take this present with you because you are so poor. Use this and live well." He gave gold to him. He gave him the gold and let him go back home. When he arrived home, his grandmother was really happy to see him again because she thought he was already dead. They sold the gold and lived their lives happily. They became rich and didn't need to worry about money. One neighbour was curious about how they became rich. The orphan boy explained everything that had happened to him. Then he thought to do the same as the orphan boy, with the thought of getting gold. Therefore, he pretended to carry water from the stream. And he intentionally floated along the water. There he met the ghoul whom the first boy met. The ghoul thought, "I've got a meal for tonight." He pulled the boy out of the water and thought to eat him at home. The boy begged him, "Don't eat me, please. Spare me. I will do everything you ask me to do. Please don't eat me." The ghoul felt pity and agreed not to eat him. He told him, "Okay, I won't eat you. You will have to work for me." Then he took him to his house. The ghoul let him do household chores. However, the boy was super lazy. He didn't want to do anything. While the ghoul was going outside, he didn't cook anything for him. He didn't cook or clean anything. He just stayed at home. When the ghoul told him, "I am so tired. Come massage my body," but he didn't want to massage him. He even said, "I am tired too." The ghoul thought the boy was really lazy. Then he told him to search for lice on his head, but the boy said, "I don't see any lice." The first boy tried his best to find lice, and killed them. The second boy always said he couldn't find any lice. The ghoul got angry with him because he was too lazy. So he ate him. The boy couldn't go back home anymore. This is the end of the story. Everyone adores well-behaved children. We should be well-behaved and well-mannered. We should listen to our parents' words and be the ones of whom they can be proud. Then we can do everything successfully. This story gives us a message that good things will happen to you even if you are servants.
