Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) This is the real story. There were about ten families living in Indaw Gyi Lake. There were not many families. There were nine villages around Indaw Gyi Lake. There were a poor old lady and her grandson in the village. They were searching for thatch for their roof. They found an egg while they were cutting thatch. In fact, the egg was the dragon's egg. They wanted to eat it so much, so they took it home. When they cooked it, it got bigger and bigger. They shared it with families from nine villages. Everyone ate that egg. But the old lady was suspicious. She thought, "Something is not right. What kind of egg is this?" Then she didn't eat it. But her grandson really wanted to try it. He ate the leftovers on the banana leaves, which were used for sharing food. Later, there was heavy rain. There was a landslide too. All those nine villages were covered by water. Then, the old woman and her grandson tried their best to escape. She picked up a walking stick and ran away. She held her grandson's right hand and held the walking stick in her right hand, and they ran away. She shouted at the nat, "My lord, I can't run anymore. I am so exhausted. Let the landslide stop right here, please." Her grandson was already dead. She put the walking stick into the ground. She survived, although her grandson died. Everyone who goes to Indaw Gyi Lake knows about them. The bamboos are this big. They are growing upside down. This is a Kachin story. This is how Indaw Gyi Lake has formed. It's because they ate the dragon's egg. Nine villages were inundated, and it became Indaw Gyi Lake. Transcription (La Ring) Moi prat e ndai ya dai gaw kaja wa nan mung mabyin re hku na chye na ai le.
