Description:Translation (Gun Mai) The title of the story is about an insincere person and an honest person. One day, there were two men called Nhkang Gam and Mawun Tu who went to carry salt. And, they talked to each other on the way. Then, Nhkang Gam said that "Friend, it is very important to have an honest mind in the world. Honesty/straight (it also meant 'straight' in Jinghpaw language) is very important." Mawun Tu then said that "No, dishonesty (it also meant 'curve' in Jinghpaw language) is important and more useful. The curve/dishonesty is better." So, they argued with each other throughout the way that whether what the one said curve/dishonesty was good or what the other one said straight/honesty was good. "OK, let's find someone who can judge our argument. If other people also said straight/honesty is good, the eyes of the other person who said wrong will be detached," they both agreed and continued their journey. On the way, they got to a paddy field and a man was harvesting the paddy. So, they asked the man that "Hi friend, in this world, does curve/dishonesty better or does straight/honesty better?" The man who was harvesting then said that "Look at my sickle. This sickle is a curve. That's why I can harvest the paddies otherwise if it is straight, I won't be able to use it. Mawun Tu said that "See! I am going to detach your eyes." Then, Nhkang Gam said that "Please wait. Let's continue to ask other people. Favour this time." Then, they met with another man who was fishing. So, they asked that "Hi friend, in this world, does curve/dishonesty better or does straight/honesty better?" The man who was fishing said that "Look at my hook. It is curved so that I can get the fish in the hook otherwise I won't get the fish." Then, Mawun Tu said again that "I have to detach your eyes this time." "No, no, please. Favour me again this time," Nhkang Gam said. So, they continued to walk and they got to another place. When they were walking on the way, a tiger suddenly attacked them from the back. So, they immediately ran to escape from the tiger. So, Nhkang Gam ran through a straight way and Mawun Tu ran through the curve way. The tiger chased first after Nhkang Gam but Nhkang Gam ran utmostly throughout the straight way so the tiger could not catch. Then, the tiger chased again after Mawun Tu but Mawun Tu was difficult to run in the curve way and the tiger caught him through short cut and ate him. Therefore, Nhkang Gam also thought to himself that "In the world, there are different things that useful in different places. The curve things are good in some places but the straight things are also good in some places. But, honesty is better." He also learned himself and continued his journey.
