Description:Translation (Seng Pan) This is a short story. We tell this as a story and a joke as well. If we look back the past of the Jinghpaw, there were no wolves at the beginning of time. Wolves are similar to both dogs and tigers. So, I always say wolves are animal Samaritans. This is about how wolves came to be. It was on a day when an old lady went to the field with her dog. The dog always followed after her and it was male. In the forest, it was also the time the tigers ruled. On the way to the field, a tigress which hid in the bush jumped on the dog. Then the dog dashed and went into a porcupine hole as he couldn't run anymore. And he went out from another hole. Since the tigress chased after the dog, she couldn't control the speed and her head was trapped in the hole. As the hole was small, she couldn't pull her head out or push her body in. She was trapped there. Some elders said that the dog came back to the porcupine hole and mated with the tigress whose head was trapped in the hole. And the tigress gave birth to a cub which couldn't be identified as a dog or tiger. The color of its fur looked like the tiger's but the size of the body was like the dog's. And that cub was named as a wolf.
