Description:Side 1: Sio - Austronesian languages spoken on central north coast, Huon Peninsula, PNG. See tape 028. commencing with Swadesh wordlist. -- Side 2: Manikion - Box note states that this is final section of Manikion but see tape 030 too. Side B: blank. Language as given: Sio, Manikion
Format:Digitised: yes Media: Emitape [AP93] Plastic spool. No tape lead-in. Emitape 106 Domestic Play tape. Some initial crushing. Audio Notes: A) 3 3/4ips, CCIR eq, 1track of 1/2trk. Field recordings, speech. Tape folded over to backing side approx 1min from start side B - careful slow-spooling required. Possibly part-erased at twist in tape? Poor treble response. Wow, pitch innacuracies probably due to recorder fault or capstan-less recorder design. Low levels at 1.22. Treble muffled at 14.30 - possibly due to wrong playback eq during dub. A_restored) Digital restoration - pitch shift to compensate for incorrect speed (some guesswork), playback eq correction from NAB to IEC from 14.30 to compensate for dub (plus mid accentuate), some denoise, some normalise & high-pass filtering to compensate for low levels at 1.20. B) BLANK A) lenth: 23.38 A-restored) 24.24 B) BLANK
