Description: The largest kind of bamboo. The internodes are 35 cm long, 30 cm in diameter, and have 5 mm thick walls. It is a cultivated bamboo; people plant it around the vil¬lage or in the valleys. Some families own many clusters of giant bamboo. The shoots are used for food and when the bamboo has grown up and become hard, it is used for making floors (tmrìaŋ), walls (hŋkɨ́r), water-tubes (báŋ), rice-steamers (réey) and bowls (kròk), and to co¬ver house roofs (trnɔ̀ɔk kàaŋ). It is also used for making bamboo clappers (pɔ́h) for scaring away wild animals from the fields.
