Description: A wild eggplant with small, sharp thorns on the stems and leaves. The fruits are small and round. It grows in the fields or in open places. When people feel weak and tired, they collect and eat the fruits, which make them feel strong and healthy, although the taste is very bitter. They can be cooked with mushrooms (tís túr or tís kltɨ̀ak): Fill a cooking pot with cold water and heat it, wash some eggplants and mushrooms and put them in the pot. Add green chillies, salt, lemongrass (sə́ə-krə̀ə) straws, pieces of ginger (rwè), basil (làk-lɛ̀ɛŋ) straws and sliced chives (slɛ́ɛp). Boil for 20–30 minutes. The fruits can also be roasted and eaten with rice.
