Description: A rather large bamboo with 35 cm long internodes, whose walls are 5 mm thick. There are both cultivated and wild varieties, and it is good house-building materi¬al; purlins (trmàr) are often made of it. It is also used for building weirs (crɔ́) and for making deadfall traps (pràay), beaters (kltɔ̀ɔŋ) and bows (kɨ̀r) for cross¬bows (mɔ̀) as well as for many other purposes. People rarely eat the shoots, which are not very tasty.
