Description:Scientific Name: Ficus lacor Common Name: wild fig Arkivcentrum Syd ID: 1951315
Khmu Name: crì pə̀ 'edible banyan'
Description: A 20–30 m tall tree. It has no evil spirit, so people may cut it down at any time, but the wood is soft and cannot be used as building material. In the hot season, this tree is leafless, and people cut the bark on the trunk and branches to obtain birdlime (klñà). During the clearing period (February to March) there are new leaves, which are light red and a little sour. The men climb the trees and cut down small branches, and women and children collect the leaves which are still covered with bud scales (crlɔ̀ɔk) and make a stew or salad. Fig leaf salad (sɔ́ɔt lá crì): Peel off the bud scales and boil the leaves in a big cooking pot until they are soft. Pound them in a rice-mortar and add salt, pounded chillies and galangal roots (knsál).
Note: "Id" refers to the original ID of the dried plant specimen
