Description:Scientific Name: Erythropalum scandens Common Name: Unspecified Arkivcentrum Syd ID: 1960963
Khmu Name: krlìiŋ
Description: A 20–30 m long vine which grows in valleys and on riverbanks, twining around tall trees. Some people plant it in their gardens, but a lot of them grow along the streams and rivers where anyone may collect them. It does not grow in areas where people make fields. In February to June when there are no cultivated vege¬tables in the fields, people collect the young leaves to prepare food in the same way as from acacia (crá). When people climb trees covered with Erythropalum or acacia vines, they must look very carefully, since the very venomous green cat snake (màr kìaŋ krlìiŋ) hides there. There are a lot of black flies (lmñàay) which bite and suck people’s blood and small flies (rɔ̀ɔy mùu) which crowd on people’s eyes. Erythropalum soup (sə́ŋ kɔ̀ɔŋ ~): Fill a pot with cold water and make it boil. Add roasted green chillies, salt, dried squirrel or other meat, krlìiŋ leaves, banana flowers and crushed rice. Let it boil for 20–30 minutes, stirring it all the time. There is no need to add any spices, be¬cause the krlìiŋ has a strong taste in itself.
Note: "Id" refers to the original ID of the dried plant specimen
