Description: A 10–15 m tall tree with both wild and cultivated varie¬ties. The fruits are eaten and taste sweet or sour, de¬pending on the variety of the tree. When people drink water after eating this fruit, the water has a sweet taste. If a sick person eats ripe hogplums he may get back his appetite. The wood is soft and cannot be used as build¬ing material. The bark is about 2 cm thick, and when people cut it, it grows back again in just a few weeks. An extract of the bark is used for healing wounds (òh).
