Description: A 4–6 m tall, poisonous tree which grows in the moun¬tain forests. The leaves are small and long, and in March to May the tree is leafless. Some people are aller¬gic to this tree and must avoid touching it. Other¬wise they first have an itch and then grow small, pus-filled blisters all over their body. A poisoned person must collect Lithocarpus (rñkɛ̀ɛñ) and staghorn fern (twá tŋkə̀ər) leaves, boil them and wash his body with the extract every day in order to cure the poisoning. Ani¬mals and birds can eat the berries without being poi¬soned, but when a hunter opens the belly of an animal which has eaten the berries, he may be poisoned.
