Description:Scientific Name: Albizia odoratissima Common Name: tea-shade tree Arkivcentrum Syd ID: 2069369
Khmu Name: krèeŋ
Description: A 10–15 m tall tree with long, thin leaves. The wood is hard as iron, and is good for making piles for houses and barns, since termites cannot eat it. People peel off the bark to get the soft white bast inside, beat it and wash their hair or clothes with it. When someone has died, a son-in-law cuts this tree, brings home the stem and hangs up the skull of the animal which is sacrificed to the dead person’s spirit on it (>máan).
