Khmu Name: péey
Description: After the rice fields have been burned for the first time, the women go to collect the remaining branches and small logs, pile them up and burn them in the second burning (púur). They are carrying baskets with bean and maize seeds, and when they find a suitable place, they dig a hole, put some seeds in it and cover with earth. The bean seeds should be planted near a tree stump so that the vine can climb the tree. Otherwise, the 4–6 m long vine may twine around the rice plants and destroy them. In October and November the beans are ready to harvest. People pick them, steam them and eat with rice, or sometimes prepare soup from them.
