Khmu Name: hmpɔ́ɔr prì 'forest tamarind'
Description: A climbing shrub, also called smpɔ́ɔy, which grows on termite hills. The stem has small, sharp thorns all over. The leaves (lá hmpɔ́ɔr) are small and look like tamarind leaves. They are used as a sour vegetable, cooked to¬gether with fish. The fruit (called plé pól) is used for washing hair and clothes. Shamans (mɔ́ɔ) make holy water (òm smpɔ́ɔy) for curing sick people with the fruits.
