Khmu Name: hrlɨ̀am
Description: A tree which has berries from May to July. There are two kinds, one with red and one with yellow berries. When the berries ripen, their peels open. Both people and animals come to eat the ripe berries, bears in parti¬cular like them very much. People use the stems to make dibbles for sowing cotton (tɔ̀h lúŋ), so that the cotton will have as many berries as the hrlɨ̀am tree. The wood can be used for building temporary field-houses, but not for permanent houses, because woodworms (kmɔ́ɔt) easily eat the wood.
