Khmu Name: kwáak [Lao loan]
Description: A 20–30 m tall tree with a straight trunk. It grows in val¬leys and on riverbanks among the tall trees where people never make fields. There are branches only at the top of the tree. The bark is white and the tree is easily visible from a distance. The wood is hard enough for building houses, but since it grows on riverbanks far from the village, it is used only for building fish-traps (crɔ́). The fruit has 4–6 segments. It is very sour, and people some¬times eat it to cure enlarged spleen (cú páaŋ).
