Description:First in a series of ten cassettes containing untranslated Hupa texts. Contents are described more fully by Mrs. Parker in a notebook on file with the Survey of California and Other Indian Languages. This tape, labeled "#1" by Mrs. Parker, is described in that notebook as including a description of a visit to Hoopa Valley, anecdotes from her own life, and stories about strange happenings in Hoopa Valley, a famine and a huge animal, an underground tunnel up a mountain, a small child who went missing, and old people.
