| Description: | This report summarizes the main empirical findings of field research on the Tlingit language, which was supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation (#BCS-1322770). This work was carried out in Juneau, AK from 6/11/2016 �6/18/2016. Native speakers: Lillian Austin, Margaret Dutson, George Davis, Selena Everson, Carolyn Martin, and John Martin. This study was largely focused on two separate issues in Tlingit grammar: (i) the nature of thematic negation, and (ii) the verbal forms used in connected future narrative. Also explored are a number of smaller questions regarding a variety of other grammatical phenomena in Tlingit: clausal comparatives, quantifier scope, free relatives, comitative constructions, and the semantics of the habitual mode. Comments: Includes an 85 page PDF report of field work with Tlingit, 16 recordings (mp3 format) of linguistic elicitation sessions with Tlingit elders totaling approximately 14 hours of recordings, and 16 text files containing metadata for each of the mp3 files.
