Description:This is a series of recording about felling a sago palm. After choosing the particular palm, the owner of the sago palm climbs up and removes the large palm leaves. Part of these are later used for producing (beating and washing) the sago. Then the palm tree is chopped with an axe. According to local custom, immediately after the palm falls down, one person has to beat the stem on several places and shout "go back!" (kämbrim!) to ensure that the liquid is running out of the stem. After the felling, everyone carries the long pieces of leaves down to the river when the sago will be processed. recorded with a Canon XA 10 videocamera with a mounted shotgun microphone (Rode Videomic).
This project focuses on collecting multimedia documentation of two undescribed Papuan languages of the Morehead-Maro family: Nen (Nambu subgroup) and Kómnzo (Tonda subgroup).
