Born in Yorkshire (England) in 1723. Got acquainted with the Moravians through Peter Böhler in 1742. Until he was sent to mission in 1748 to St. Thomas, he lived in Moravian communities in England and Germany. Eight years after his arrival on St. Thomas, in 1756 on April 2, he arrived on Antigua to start missionary works there. He died in 1764 at the age of 41.
