Description:Recording took place during primary school hours (08:30 AM-03:30 PM) at a primary school in a separate classroom. Recording was done by Dorian de Haan between 1984-1986. This is a continuation of DBD DH 032B.
Goal of this project is to get a clear view of the command of Sarnami and/or Sranan of primary school children of Suriname origin and to study their command of Dutch.
Dorian de Haan talks with 3 boys Henk, Patrick and Viajai (all Sarnami Hindustani) about traveling a Surinamese wedding and discrimination. At the end of the recording the boys sing a song in Sarnami.

A couple of years ago his father had an accident at his work side. The tops of his fingers were cut off. At home he speaks mostly Dutch, although sometimes he speaks Surinamese with his mother. His sister doesn't want to speak it, but she understands it. With his friends and cousins he speaks Dutch. According to him Surinamese isn't difficult.
