De taalsituatie van Surinaamse kinderen op de basisschool in Nederland
Contributor (speaker):Basri
Coverage:Netherlands
Description:Recording was done in class (8.30AM-15.30PM) while a presentation was given by one of the children. This was recorded between 1984-1986. Unclear whether Dorian de Haan was present during the presentation. This is a broken conversation.
Goal of this project is to get a clear view of the command of Sarnami and/or Sranan of primary school children of Suriname origin and to study their command of Dutch.
A boy gives a presentation about native Americans.
Basri is of Turkish origin and was born in turkey. He moved to the Netherlands when he was 6, and he has been living in the Netherlands for 7 years now. So he is about 13. With his parents he always speaks Turkish, with his younger brother he speaks both Dutch and Turkish. He finds that in certain situations Dutch is easier (school) and in other Turkish (at home, in Turkey). However, in general Dutch is easier than Turkish. Same boy as in 28D & 38A.
