Description:BM narrates the story about Mole Trapper, at the request of the collector.
Lacandon Cultural Heritage is a documentation of the language and culture of the northern Lacandon(Maya), who live in the rain forest in Chiapas, the south-eastern state of Mexico. They number approximately 350 men, women and children, who have retained much of their traditional culture and religion. The project serves as a preservative measure against loss of the traditional knowledge, stories, and verbal performances that are central to Lacandon culture. It also serves as an interactive resource tool for linguists and non-linguists to access data relevant to their areas of interest, such as folklore, ethnobotany, cultural anthropology, etc.
BM narrates the story about Mole Trapper, called U yEh lehil bah 'he who traps moles (gophers)' in Lacandon.
Lacandon is the only language spoken in this session.
BM is the main contributor in this session. The collectors are present and may be heard speaking to him off camera.
The collector of this session data is also responsbile for the collection of all of the data sessions and the whole project.
BM was born and raised in Naha. His father is CK and his mother, KM. He is married and has two sons. The youngest still lives at home.
