Description:		In this session it is shown how the traditional dish of 'karirea' is prepared. Karirea is made out of green bananas and cooked in hibiscus leaves. The then firm pudding substance is served in coconut milk. This session also emphazises the traditional preparation techniques.
		The project documents several different aspects of the Marquesan culture (legends, narratives, food preparation, plant medicine, fishing techniques, Marquesan trick languages, songs, dances etc.)

		R is the main consultant throughout the whole session. B joins the session at the end and comments on some preparation techniques. There are also her grandchildren about interacting briefly at the end of the session. The languages used in the session were Marquesan as well as French.
		Apart from her mother tongue she is also fluent in French. R is an active participant in the cultural revival movement often engaged in organising cultural events or guiding tourists around. At the time of the recording R is also engaged in community work being the third deputy of the major of Ua Pou island.
		B is fluent in French and Tahitian, also some good basic knowledge of English. He was brought up in the valley of Hakata'o on 'Ua Pou island; until the age of nine he did not attend a school as there were no schools in his valley. He learnt a lot of legends from his grandparents and older people of his valley. When he was a child there was no electricity (ie. TV or radio), and thus story-telling was one of the major attractions during their spare time. He is a primary school teacher.
